“Yellow-free zone” (2018) – a colour experiment in the public space

Lucca Adrien – studio adrien lucca, belgium

The latest artwork by the artist Adrien Lucca, “Yellow-free zone” was installed in the metro station “Maashaven” in Rotterdam (NL) on December 17, 2018. Lucca has replaced the lighting system of the transit hall with a white light that modifies the colour of yellow objects. The result is a zone where white light turns us blind to yellow, as if a digital filter was applied to reality itself, questioning the everyday character of our perceptions. The artist will present the light technology that has been used for developping the “special cold-white” luminaires of the project, i.e. spectrally tuned LEDs and phosphor light conversion.
